ওরাল প্লেসমেন্ট থেরাপি (Oral Placement Therapy বা OPT) একটি থেরাপিউটিক কৌশল, যা মুখের পেশি ও মোটর স্কিল (oral-motor skills) উন্নয়নের জন্য ব্যবহার করা হয়। এটি সাধারণত শিশুদের ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়, যাদের কথা বা খাওয়া-দাওয়ায় সমস্যা থাকে।
ওরাল প্লেসমেন্ট থেরাপির উদ্দেশ্য:
✓ মুখের পেশি উন্নয়ন – ঠোঁট, চোয়াল ও জিভের কার্যকারিতা ও সমন্বয় বৃদ্ধি করা।

একজন স্পিচ থেরাপিস্ট বা ওরাল মোটর স্পেশালিস্ট শিশুর মুখের গঠন, পেশির কার্যকারিতা ও সমস্যা মূল্যায়ন করে একটি পরিকল্পনা তৈরি করেন। শিশুর বয়স ও সক্ষমতা অনুযায়ী ধাপে ধাপে থেরাপি করা হয়।
ওরাল প্লেসমেন্ট থেরাপির গুরুত্ব:
✓ মৌলিক মুখের পেশি শক্তিশালীকরণে সহায়তা করে:
অনেক শিশুর মুখের পেশির দুর্বলতার কারণে সঠিকভাবে শব্দ উচ্চারণ করতে বা খাবার চিবাতে সমস্যা হয়। এই থেরাপির মাধ্যমে মুখের পেশিগুলো (ঠোঁট, জিভ, চোয়াল) ধাপে ধাপে শক্তিশালী ও সমন্বিত করা হয়।
✓ ভাষা বিকাশের ভিত্তি গঠন করে:
যে শিশুরা উচ্চারণ করতে পারে না, তাদের ক্ষেত্রে প্রথমে ফিজিক্যাল স্কিল তৈরি করাটা জরুরি। OPT মুখের আকার, অবস্থান এবং আন্দোলন নিয়ন্ত্রণের মাধ্যমে স্পিচ সাউন্ড তৈরির পূর্বশর্ত তৈরি করে দেয়।
✓ খাওয়া-দাওয়ার উন্নতিতে সহায়ক:
শিশুরা যদি চিবাতে বা গিলতে না পারে, তা খাওয়ার প্রতি আগ্রহ হ্রাস করে ও পুষ্টির অভাব ঘটায়। এই থেরাপি সেই স্কিলগুলোকে উন্নত করে যাতে শিশুরা নিরাপদে ও স্বাভাবিকভাবে খেতে পারে।
✓ সেন্সরি প্রসেসিং উন্নত করে:
অনেক শিশু মুখে অতিরিক্ত সংবেদনশীল বা কম সংবেদনশীল হয়। OPT মুখের সেন্সরি ইনপুট নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে সাহায্য করে, যা শিশুর আরামদায়কতা ও কার্যক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধি করে।
